Movies as Literature (March-May 2025)

Discover the literary depths of your favorite films in The Bookish Society's "Movies as Literature" class! In this class, students will watch a movie each week and engage in dynamic roundtable discussions about the literary devices used in the story. By analyzing the films' plot, characters, and themes, students will gain a deeper understanding of the art of storytelling and how movies can serve as powerful vehicles for expressing complex ideas and emotions.

By watching the movies first, students will be inspired to read the books on which the films are based, giving them a richer appreciation for the nuances and details often lost in the transition from page to screen. With a focus on analysis and discussion, this class will surely be a thought-provoking and entertaining experience for students of all ages.

Movie fees will be the parent's responsibility, but most should be available on streaming services or at your library.
